High Five for {Fitness} Friday + A GIVEAWAY!

I mentioned in my New Year's non-resolution post that I wanted to improve my physical fitness. It just so happens that we're going to Miami Beach for our anniversary this year (sans-baby, whoohoo!), so I went ahead and got a jump-start on that resolution goal in December. You know, to look acceptable at the beach.

Because while I DO want to be stronger, you can't blame a girl for wanting a little bit of a beach body for an actual beach trip, right? Don't judge.

Anyway, here are my Top 5 things I love about focusing on fitness:

1) New workout clothes. Hubs got me a few new things from Athleta for Christmas. Yes, those leggings and tank have sparkles in them. To quote hubs, "I knew you'd like them, because you love anything with sparkly s**t in it." #truth

Athleta Christmas haul! I think I like grey? :)

Sparkle close - up

2) Finding new workouts. To change your body, you have to keep it guessing with new workouts. I had been doing strictly yoga and barre, but switched it to HIIT/interval training/tabata style workouts. Holy cow, y'all. Look into them if you want your rump handed to you!

3) Seeing and hearing results. One of my favorite yogi's (I'll never completely switch out yoga for HIIT workouts) said, "Your arms are looking fabulous!" The same week I got on the scale to see my prebaby number. When you're dedicated and make time instead of excuses, you reap major rewards.

4) Feeling sore. Am I alone in this, or is feeling sore the next day an awesome feeling?!

5) Making new friends. At my club there's a group of us SAHM's who all go about the same time everyday, and we've gotten to know each other well. I really enjoy their company! Hanging with these lovely ladies transitions workouts from "I have to go to the gym" to "Yes! I GET to go to the gym!"

Did you set any physical fitness goals/non-resolutions for 2015? What are some of your favorite workouts?

Have a great weekend full of sweat and strength ;)

    1. Isn't it fun?! It's not "I'm going to the club" sparkle-level, but just enough to make a workout a bit more fun. Good luck to you in your body transformation! I can't wait to see updates!

    1. Aren't they fun?! And yes, you should totally do two things to be ultra motivated to workout: have a baby and plan a beach trip... After the baby. That'll get you moving like nothing else, lol! And hey, you've got some serious races planned this year, so you'll start seeing results shortly with the training.

  3. I am 100% with you on all of this! HIIT/Tabata style workouts are my favorite. We did boot camp for years and I loved it so much. Best way to blast calories in a short amount of time.
And I totally love that post-workout sore feeling. I'm a glutton for punishment.
Your hubby did good with the workout clothes. Athleta is my favorite place to get new gear. Love them!
    Have a great weekend Paige!

    1. You know what's funny is that these interval workouts just go by so fast! It's like you're doing your warm up and bam! You're done. Loving them right now! Athleta is my favorite now, too.

      Have a lovely weekend!

  4. Next day soreness is awesome, except on those workout that you know you pushed it too far on. Then it's just miserable. Haha! I love all the workout gear. The hubs did a great job picking those out. Yay for sparkly s**t! Enjoy your beach vacay sans little man! Hope you guys live it up big-time. Or sleep in and do a whole lot of nothing. Either way. =)

    1. Haha! I've been thinking... "Do we go out all night and pretend to be in our 20's again?" or "Do I sleep until 3pm, order room service, and go back to bed?" Both sound amazing right about now! :)

  5. Ohhhh how did I not see those little sparkly numbers? Being sore is the best feeling! I hadn't gotten to barre in a week and then took the other day and I was sore!!!! It was a good little feeling. Yeah for the pre baby weight!!!!!!

    1. Oh girl, YES! All the sparkles are in the barre section (at least, at the store... Is there a store by you? We only have two for all of Dallas and Ft. Worth, so I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't one quite yet by you.) Anyway, it's tastefully incorporated into a number of things, so checky-check it out!

Amen for prebaby weight. It only took me seven months and one week.

  7. One of my fitness-money hybrid goals (yeah that's a thing…) is to not buy any new workout clothes this year. So clicking on this post was probably a bad idea because I love the stuff you got from Athleta! I've never worn their stuff but I guess I'll have to wait until 2016 haha!

    1. Oh no! I could never do that... Yoga/barre/workout clothes are about the only area I'm stylish in! Just live via me this year, k? And stay out of Athleta, whatever you do! I can't go there and leave empty handed.

But good for your for combining goals - and sticking to them!
